At SW Herb Shop, our plant walks through Mesa and the surrounding Sonoran Desert are more than just identifying plants. We aim to meet the desert as a teacher and to remember the direct relationship we are in with her. We learn the medicinal, edible, and energetic teachers growing right here in our backyards together. When we stand in direct relationship with the plants, herbalism stops being theoretical and becomes embodied. Like smelling creosote after rain, touching desert mallow, noticing where prickly pear chooses to root these relationships have meaning.
These walks reconnect us to place-based medicine, seasonal rhythms, and the wisdom of the land that sustains us.
